I can see why Kilspindie is referred to as a ‘hidden gem’. Once an active and thriving harbour that dated back as early as 1149, the course is modest and brimming with character. Peer out onto a roaring ancient coast and it will tell you its own story of secrecy, intrigue and treacherous escapades. Tiny, timeworn stone outbuildings offer an occasional brief respite from the perpetual wind, as seals doze on perpendicular peninsulas. The audible rush of spray from crashing waves dramatically escorts a view of a green perched on a natural jetty, a spot where smugglers once played their trade.
